Paul R. Calcaterra

President

Paul was born and raised in Detroit. After graduating high school, he attended Michigan State and Wayne State University, receiving his Mortuary Science Degree. He is a second generation funeral director raised in a family dedicated to funeral business. He is a member of San Francesco & St. John Vianni Parish. His many memberships include Past President of Americans of Italian Origin, Past President of San Francesco Orphans Club and Bowling League, and Past President of Italian American Chamber of Commerce. Paul and his wife Suzan now reside in Shelby Township. Their children include Paul M., Bonnie, David, Christine, Kim and Kelly. He is a proud Papa to his grandchildren.

Matthew K. Manzella

Managing Partner/Funeral Director

Matthew was born in Lapeer and raised in Armada. He is a graduate of Armada High School and the Macomb Academy of Arts & Sciences. Following high school, Matthew Attended Wayne State University earning degrees in Psychology and Mortuary Science, becoming a licensed funeral director in 2011. He joined the funeral home in 2017 through 2021, returning in 2023 as the Managing Partner.

He is very compassionate and pays close attention to the small details, not just the large, ensuring families receive the best experience.

Matthew, his wife Rebecca, and daughter Ophelia, reside in Mount Clemens where they are active members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He is a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Macomb and the treasurer, member of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce and the Italian American Society. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys spending time with family, friends and working on his historical home.

Rebecca Peters

Funeral Director

Rebecca was raised in Warren. After high school she attended Wayne State University, receiving her Mortuary Science degree in 2009. After over 10 years of helping families in the Detroit area she joined Bagnasco & Calcaterra in 2022. In addition to working as a funeral director, Rebecca is an instructor in Restorative Arts and Embalming courses in the Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science.

Brian Carl Moler

Accounting Administrator / Directors Assistant

Brian was born in Grosse Pointe Woods and raised in Detroit and Harper Woods. He graduated from Bishop Gallagher High School in 1987. He then attended Macomb Community College. He started working in the funeral business in December 1988. Brian currently handles most of the accounting functions of our funeral homes in addition to being well versed in just about everything else that we do!  Brian is a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores.

Brian  now reside in Metamora, MI. Loving Husband of Janet .  Our children include , Shelby and Zachary Moler and Kayla and Tyler Keene.

Dyan Scanlan

Funeral Director Apprentice

Dyan was born in Rochester Hills and grew up in Roseville. She graduated from Oakland University in 2020 with a Bachelors of Sociology and Wayne State University in 2023 with her Bachelors of Mortuary Science.  Dyan is a member of the Eastpointe Rotary Club, the Polish American Congress of Michigan, and the Michigan Mortuary Response Team. Dyan currently resides in Clinton Township with her husband Will, their children and their many, many pets.

Andrea Varmatos

Licensed Funeral Director / Embalmer

Andi was born and raised in Chicago’s south side and grew up working in her father’s diner. At the age of 19 while working a catering event for the Greek Orthodox Church a long time family friend and priest told her that she should become a funeral director. She went on to attend Worsham College of Mortuary Science and became a licensed funeral director embalmer at the age of 21, and later in life went on to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Bio-Chemistry from Chicago State University. In addition to being a funeral director Andi was a High School Science Teacher for Chicago Public Schools. Andi is Greek Orthodox by faith and speaks Spanish and some Greek.
