March 2, 1935 ~ November 9, 2020 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Stuart, Joann A. (nee Giuliani) November 9, 2020, age 85. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth. Devoted mother of Linda (John) Brady and Steven Stuart. Bonus family Denise and Don Buckner. Proud grandmother of Megan Stuart, Rachel Delf, Don Buckner Jr., and the late Jesse Stuart. Great grandmother of Willy, Haley, Madison, Olivia, Amber, Abbigail, and Lillian. Dear sister of David (Pat) Giuliani and Lillian (The late Everett) Salyers.
Born 1935, Joann (Giuliani) Stuart lived a full life growing up in Detroit surrounded by her huge Italian family.
She graduated from St Bernard’s in 1953.  Soon after graduation she met and married Ken Stuart.  They lived in upper flat in Detroit until they bought their “dream home” in Warren. Together they raised two children, Linda and Steve and later opening her heart and home to Denise and loved her equally. Joann never moved from that house till many years after Ken passed in 1996.

Joann was primarily a housewife and mother until she decided to go to college and acquired a nursing degree in 1976.   While she was working full time at a Warren Nursing Home, she was also taking care of the house and kids.  During all this she stayed up many a late night studying so she could graduate with honors.

Joann was a tough lady beating two very severe medical conditions that doctors said were terminal.  Survival was not in her favor but she beat those odds.  She was determined to prove those doctors wrong and she did!

Her next dream was to build a cabin in the woods on property they bought in Harrison.  That dream came true and the cabin was finished in 1995.Her happiest day in her life was when she bought her lake house in Harrison.  She wanted something not just for herself, but for the whole family to enjoy.  She loved to sit on the deck or stare out the window at the little lake. Joann was the happiest when her kids, grandkids and great grandkids were splashing in the water or out on Steve’s boat tubing!  She lived for 4th of July week when everyone would come up and enjoy the lake, food and fireworks!  (and Wine!)
She is survived and very much loved by Linda and Steve and her Bonus Daughter, Denise. This extended family brought the total of grandkids up to four and great grandkids up to seven. Grandma Jo, as she was known to them, loved them all and had a special place in her heart for everyone of us.  As of late she would tell people over and over, that her life was complete because her godchild Craig Salyers visited her, bringing with him the twins. Craig and Christina blessed her with a new Great Niece and Nephew, Clare and Graham.  Great Auntie Joann couldn’t wait to watch them grow.
She was active for many years as a parishioner of San Francisco Church.  Joann spent many hours as a member, president and secretary of the San Francisco Missionary Orphans Club. She turned over her duties when she moved to Oxford. and driving became difficult for her. The Club was very important to her because she adored Father Rossi. He was always a very important member of her family.
Family was important to her. She lived her life her way, but always with love in her heart for family and friends and would drop anything to lend a helping hand 24/7. Joann is now an angel in heaven taking care of all the loved ones who got there ahead of her.
