Joseph Andrew Savalle

March 19, 1934 ~ February 8, 2021 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Savalle, Joseph Andrew, age 86, February 8, 2021. Beloved husband of Nancy for 61 years. Dear father of Joseph (Lee) Savalle, Kimberly (Todd) Diefenbach, Gerald Savalle and the late Marcus Savalle. Proud grandfather of Meghan (Joseph) Brewer, Marc and Mia Savalle, Steven (Alexis) and Scott (Madeline) Diefenbach. Loving great grandfather of Grayson and Aubree. Cherished brother of Hank, Lucy Redlin and the late Tony and the late Phillip.
Joe was born in 1934 to Josephine and Giuseppe Savalle, a proud Sicilian family, in Detroit, Michigan. There were five children in the family, two older brothers, a younger brother and a younger sister. Joe idolized his brothers and adored his baby sister.

In his younger years, Joe helped with the family store and was a golf caddy at a local golf course.

Joe was honored and proud to serve his country in the US Army from 1953 to 1955.

Joe went on to meet the love of his life Nancy Williams, at a beach in St Clair Shores where she worked at a local hot dog stand. She spilled mustard on him and something magical happened after that.

They were married in 1959 and celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage.  That blessed union produced four children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Joe enjoyed a 40-year career at the Detroit Italian bakery. Besides being a go-getter who never seemed to tire, his Italian background made it easy for him to speak to his coworkers with ease. His bakery produced some of the finest baked goods in the Detroit area for many, many years

Joe was also a very handy man and designed and built their family cabin located in Prudenville Michigan. Nancy and Joe and the family enjoyed 40 years of beautiful family memories, boating, cooking outside, riding in the pontoon and enjoying one another.

He retired at age 55 and took over raising his youngest son Markus. Joe started a new and rewarding career of picking up his five grandchildren from school and having small adventures before returning them home. He would not have it any other way.

Between all his hobbies, hunting, drawing, woodworking, gardening and baking, his family came first. He was most attentive to his lovely wife Nancy and they shared a beautiful marriage that was inspirational to all who knew and loved them.

Joe left behind a legacy and besides his loving family, many hearts will ache for him and be so glad that they knew him.
