Our loving and devoted mother, Louisa Sarra, passed away on September 13, 2021 at age 92. We are beyond saddened by the loss of Louisa and look to the lasting impressions and memories she gifted so many with. Louisa was born in Highland Park, Michigan on August 7, 1929 to the late Dominic and Rose Sarrecchia. Her family hailed from the town of Pescosolido, Italy and on June 21, 1952, she married her loving late husband Peter Sarra, also from Pescosolido.
She was the beloved mother of Anthony Sarra and Debra (John) Simon. Proud grandmother to Brittney (Rachel) Bowens and Sarah Simon. Predeceased by her husband Peter, sisters Mary and Kay, cousins Pina and Pasqualino. She will also be missed by her any nieces, nephews and extended family who always knew her door was open and homemade pasta was always on the menu.
Louisa was a devout woman of faith, who was full of life and cherished time with her family. She was an active member of the Pescosolido Woman’s Society for over 50 years and loved getting together with her friends from the society talking about Italy and debating over who had the best cookie recipes. Louisa loved to be in the kitchen whether it be baking or cooking it was always a place where she could comfort those she loved through her food and famous recipes. This love for cooking inspired so many of our family members to try out their own pasta making skills as an annual event. We know she will come to mind anytime we make pasta in the future, and smile as we remember her rule of No Semolina flour.
Louisa was cherished by many, her humor and kind heart will live on in the stories and memories we share to honor her. Her strength, faith and courage throughout the years instills within us all the values she held so dear. We will always be grateful for the time we were able to share with her and how loved she made us feel. She will be so dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
