Tribute

Former Clinton Township resident Mary L. Airoldi, 98, passed away peacefully at Fraser Villa Nursing Home, in Fraser, Michigan on October 30, 2019. She was born in Detroit on August 22, 1921 to Angela (Allegrati) and Emil Airoldi, who immigrated to the U.S. from San Antonino, Italy, a small town north of Milan (Lombardi region).

Mary graduated in 1939 from North Eastern High School in Detroit and worked as an executive secretary for the US Department of Treasury, Regional Counsel Office of the IRS in Detroit for 38 years from 1942 to 1980. When she retired, she received the Albert Gallatin Award for dedicated, outstanding service.

She was a devout Catholic and an active member of San Francesco Church, formerly of Detroit and now in Clinton Township, and she was also an active member of St. Paul Taursus, Clinton Township.

Mary was an avid reader and could easily read three or four paperback books a week. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends with Pinochle, Rummy, Euchre, Crazy Eights, and Solitaire among some of her favorite games. At Fraser Villa Nursing Home, she loved to play Bingo and was always a frequent winner.

She was preceded in death by her sister Henrietta (Clarence) Cereska and her brother-in-law Joseph Garavaglia. She is survived by her sister Yolanda Garavaglia of Clinton Township; five nephews and their spouses, children, and grandnieces and grandnephews : Paul Garavaglia (Kathy LaDuke), Alan Garavaglia (Susan), Mark Garavaglia (Marilyn), Gary Cereska (Clorinda) and Ken Cereska (Kristi).

Visitation at the Sterling Heights Chapel of Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 East 15 Mile Road, Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, Funeral Mass, Monday, November 4, 2019 at St. Paul of Tarsus, 41300 Romeo Plank Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. Instate at 9:30 AM until time of Mass at 10:00 AM.
Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Mary.
