Ralph S. Catrett, a beloved husband, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, at the age of 74. He was the devoted husband of Laura for 49 wonderful years, creating a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Born to the late Thomas and Adele Catrett, Ralph grew up in the Detroit area with his brother Thomas Catrett II. He is also survived by his nephew, Thomas Catrett III, his brother-in-law Oreste (Phyllis) Vaccari; and his nieces, Bianca (Joey) Puglise and Andrea (Fred) Flaim. He was also a proud great-uncle to Nora Puglise, Lila Puglise, and Freddie Flaim.
Ralph dedicated many years to the automotive industry before retiring and began a job that brought him joy and fulfillment: working at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores. Ralph began his tenure there in pool maintenance and later transitioned to housekeeping, relishing the opportunity to care for such a historic and beautiful estate.
Ralph had a lifelong enthusiasm for trains and classic cars, with his heart particularly set on his cherished 1965 Bonneville. His passion for these hobbies was only rivaled by his love for dogs; he and Laura opened their hearts to many furry companions throughout their lives.
In honor of Ralph’s love for animals, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
A Celebration of Life for Ralph will be held at a later date, where friends and family will come together to share stories and memories of a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
