Richard J. Bennett

Bennett, Richard J., age 83, October 3, 2020. Beloved husband of MaryAnn for 58 years. Dear father of Cyndi (Todd) Fortune, Paul (Alisha), Jim (Michelle), Kristin (Forrest) McNiff and step father of Ira (Janice) Woods. Proud grandfather of Aaron, Autumn, Alexis, Katrina, Ashley, Dylan, Gabriel and Liam. Loving brother of Forrest Bennett II and Sharon Lacy. Richard proudly served in the United States Army and was a part of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles stationed in Germany. He taught math at Post Middle School in Detroit for 30 years. As a devout Christian, he was a leader of the Senior Bible Study at Faith Lutheran Church where he was a member for 46 years. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed reading and writing his own poetry. Visitation Thursday, October 8 from 2pm to 8pm at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home. Instate Friday 10:30am until time of a Funeral Service 11:00am at Faith Lutheran Church, 37635 Dequindre Rd., Troy. Interment at Christian Memorial Gardens in Rochester Hills.
