Steven J. Kirschner

Steven J. Kirschner, age 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2021. He was the beloved father of Lana (Patrick) Harrison, Cara (Miguel) Sanchez-Estrada, and Matthew (Lauren). The proud Papa of Camille, Joseph, Velencia, Maddox, Nixon, Lila, Nora, Vivia, and Angelo. Dear son of Frank and the late Lorraine. Brother of Frank (Veronica), Al (Diana), Lynne (the late Mike), Tom, and Kris. Loving companion of Nina Guysayko Stesiak. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that were as close to his heart as his own children, as well as countless friends. 

Steven was born in Detroit on June 1, 1956, to Frank and Lorraine Kirschner. He graduated high school from Servite and attended Alma and Wayne State University where he played college football. He dedicated 39 years of his life to the Detroit Fire Department, where he retired at the rank of Battalion Chief. He was a natural leader, and the job was all about the brotherhood for him. He was a “hero” to so many, but to him, it was just part of the job. He never turned down an opportunity to lend a hand and he gave so much to his community.  

Steven was a devoted father and lived for his family and those he cared about. He loved to be outdoors and cherished the time he had with his family, especially his 9 grandkids. His larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh and smile were contagious. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.  

Visitation will be held at the Sterling Heights Chapel of the Bagnasco & Calcaterra, 13650 E 15 Mile Rd, Sunday October 24, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 9:00PM. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, from 10:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
