Tribute

Thomas Joseph Walker, Age 64. 1958 – 2023.

On a Monday, September 15, 1958, Thomas Walker was born. His arrival for mother, Helen Kelley Walker and his father, Frank Joseph Walker Jr. was met with joy and happiness. Waiting at home to meet their new brother were three siblings, Susan, Janice, and Frank. Tom would welcome another sibling in 1960, his sister Mary Jo.

Childhood years were spent in Southfield, MI. In his adult years he would settle in Warren, MI. Tom was a devoted and loving father to Natasha. Being a father was a great joy for him and was immensely proud of his daughter.

Those who knew Tom knew a man who was an avid animal lover, a man who truly loved his dogs. He was a walking encyclopedia on American history and a craftsman, with wood who built beautiful tables and cabinets. Tom was a generous person who would buy a stranger a meal because they were hungry and in need and would cut the elderly neighbors lawns just because he saw they needed help.

Tom was a loved, long time employee of MECO Metals where he formed lifelong friends with his boss and coworkers.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents – Frank and Helen Walker, and his sister Susan Walker Schairer.

Those people who are grieving about Tom’s passing but are grateful to have known Tom and to be a part of life: His daughter - Natasha Morton, granddaughter - Ava Sophia, siblings - Janice (Stephen) Trepanowski, Frank (Pamela) Walker, Mary Jo (Larry) Schmidt, Jeri (John) Doroshewitz, and Jim (Katy) Master. Tom also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Tom was a devoted son, a good and loving brother, a loving father, a loving grandfather, and a friend to many who will be missed by all.

“Don’t grieve for me, for now I am free, I’m following the path God laid out for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I’ve found that peace at the end of the day.”
